The Witcher Season 1 Episode 5 Bottled Appetites

The Witcher: Season 1, Episode 5: Bottled Appetites

The Witcher. What spell is this? Is it a spell or something else … love, surprises, and possession. Who is this handsome “devil” we are met with in the opening scene to the Witcher’s 5th of 8 episodes. I find myself watching a very interesting and different intro to a demon, hmmm, what’s going to be his relevance in this “coming together” episode (you’ll understand this joke a little later on!) This demon has a thirst for freedom over money but is made a very enticing proposition, one that he simply cannot refuse … so what is the plan?

This episode is at last! the one in which the three different timelines we have been following and enjoying so much, are finally about to be tidied together in the most delicious way.

The poor, kidnaped sorcerer of Cintra, Mousesack (played by Adam Levy) vowed protector of Princess Ciri is having a rough time of it. His powers have been taken after Cintra fell. The demon we were intimately introduced to reluctantly has to take the form of the sorcerer. But Mousesack is given a bit of a fighting chance to live, to try and escape it’s clutches, run sorcerer RUN!!
Can he get away … so creepy. Evil conquers. Death becomes him. No mercy but many mistakes …

Money, money, counting money. Yennefer (played by Anya Chalotra) the magnetic mage has become so skillful and wiser. She is selling spells in a village, but how did she end up there? Is she in trouble? Casting spells comes at a cost. Will she end up in chains …

Meanwhile, Princess Ciri (played by Freya Allan) is still seeking refuge in Brokilon forest with the Dryad women, though she know she is not liked by the majority of the tribe. Will she stay or continue on her search …

Jaskier (played by Joey Batey) and the Geralt of Rivia (played by Henry Cavill) are bantering by the river, as always, much humor to be enjoyed with these two. Geralt is fishing .. but what on earth is he fishing for? It’s obviously not for the pleasure. Ah-ha, ok, he is having trouble sleeping, so he is fishing for a djinn ? I am thinking to myself, maybe it has something to do with the law of surprise and his path of destiny that’s perhaps keeping him awake … maybe Jaskier is right. Jaskier is so funny, clowning around (making me laugh) but doesn’t take the djinn seriously … something terrible is brewing as he jokingly disrespects the djinn and frivolously makes his wishes. Geralt is cut and Jaskier is … dying? The Witcher immediately takes Jaskier to a medical person who (luckily) is posted up close by, but his injuries are magickal in nature so his ability to help are very limited. Poor Jaskier, will he make it? He needs a mage and QUICK! Can you guess who he will meet?

Yennefer of Vengerberg and the sorceress Tissaia de Vries (played by MyAnna Buring), talk, she says Yennefer is pure chaos right now. Yennefer has a problem, left to her own devices she might be going down a bad path. Tissaia came with a warning. Yennefer wants a baby, but that was her deal, her sacrifice for beauty, it’s not possible, is it? Will Yennefer get over it and move on or stay on her mission? Offering Yennefer a chance for redemption, to use her talents for the new generation. But Yennefer wants everything!

Geralt and Jaskier make it to the Mayor’s home where the magickal mage is supposed to be and well, they are met with a surprise! Geralt, dragging a sick and suffering Jaskier, wanders the halls, through the house to only stumble upon a very decadent, intricate, mind-controlled orgy orchestrated by (you guessed it) the sorceress herself, Yennefer of Vengerberg for her pure pleasure and entertainment (that’s my girl!)

Yennefer and Gerald meet for the first time “the famous white wolf” she says. I definitely sense a bit of flirting going on. Geralt is both intrigued and a little bit unnerved by the stunning sorceress. Yennefer seems as equally fascinated by the Witcher. Gerald is unaffected by her mind control spell that has so deeply consumed all the other participants in the room. It is clear they both think each the other is hot. Yennefer will help Geralt but for a pretty price. Time for a bath Witcher! Yennefer joins him in this sexy bath tub scene. She wants to know his story, his background, where and how he was created. She shares about her situation too, why she is there selling spells. Gerald doesn’t doubt her capabilities just her intentions.

Yennefer promises Jaskier that with her magick he will will survive with his vocal talents intact. Jaskier, passed out on the bed. Her spell is at work. While the spell is working, she figures out that there is but one wish left. The queen of seduction seduces Geralt, and with the help of a spell, delivered by a kiss, makes Geralt go on one crazy rampage attacking all her enemies and knocks him out cold. He wakes up in the strangest place … what the hell? What did he do? He’s about to get a beating but then something weird happens … head explosions!

Jaskier almost fully healed with the help of Yennefers magickal spell, wakes up to naked Yennefer. But all she wants is to make a wish. Her desire, to become more powerful! She wants the djinn for herself Clearly Geralt is very is fond of Yennefer and goes back to help her.  He reveals that to her that he, not Jaskier, is actually the one with a wish left. But is it too late to save her from the djinn … is she going to become the vessel of all that power?
Poor Jaskier thinks the Witcher is dead … Nope he’s just busy …

Simultaneously, back in the Brokilon forest, whispers, dangers, as something lurks … oh no, it’s the sorcerer from Cintra (but not really) he’s come for Princess Ciri, will she sense that he’s an impostor? He uses her grandmother’s dying wish, the law of surprise, her destiny, to persuade her to leave the safety of the forest. She says her goodbyes to the tribe who have given her safety for some time now, leaving her a parting gift, some wise words to guide Ciri in her journey, the leader of the Dryads says: “always ask the right questions, your destiny is in your own hands …” looks like Ciri is going to need all the help she can get!
