The Witcher: Season 1, Episode 1: The End’s Beginning

Are you ready for the first Witcher review. The Witcher, season 1 episode 1 called the End’s Beginning sounds very intriguing I must say. Let hope it delivers and can meet the high expectations we have!

The Witcher does not disappoint. The first few minutes meet you with a thrilling start which plunges you straight into the action.

The very distinct voice of the Witcher called Geralt of Rivia played by actor Henry Cavill really adds to your impression of the Witcher. He doesn’t say much but this really adds to his characters depth and mystery but when he does it really packs a punch. He is honorable, with smouldering lookings and has little to no feelings yet he talks a lot to his horse.

Set in Medieval times, with very realastic settings and scenes, there is an under tone of black humor as well as many references to sorcery and magick, Sorcerers, monsters, demons, Witches, Kings, Queens and Princesses.

The Witcher’s destiny is intertwinded with the young Princess of Cintra but why …

The show definitely keeps your interest.

Geralt finds himself in a village where a Magician wants to hire him to kill a Monster …

He meets the beautiful Renfri played by Emma Appleton, a princess turned survival warrior who is out for vengence. She is the last living princess of seven born, said to bring the end of the Earth. All other princesses born were killed. The Witcher gives her an ultimatum … perhaps romantically.

The Witcher is trying not to be what people say he is … a monster … by killing monsters.

The City of Cintra is under a horrific attack. War is brought upon Queen Calanthe played by Jodhi May and the city is taken, under attack. The princess senses something is terribly wrong but she is kept in the dark. Suspense, dread and defeate.

The wise Queen is injured in battle. She orders her sorcerer to protect the young princess who is unaware just how special she is and is totally unaware of what her future holds. They’re ordered to leave Cintra, she is destined for greatness and must be protected and, to some how, be the destiny of the Witcher … No good deed goes unpunished.

Gripping performances by all and a great opening episode, a thoroughly enjoyable show. Click Here to read the next episode review!
