It is advisable to keep your tools separate maybe even locked away from prying hands and eyes (unless you live alone of course!)

How do I Consecrate My Witch Tools: Should I do this?

What does consecrate mean?

To consecrate something means that you are making (in this case) your tools sacred. You are blessing them and making them holy. By consecrating your tools you are dedicating them to a specific purpose, a specific intention, to something that is of the greatest importance to you.

Why you should consecrate your tools?

It is a good idea to consecrate your tools. You should consecrate your tools so that you can make the tools truly yours and bond with them. This will make connection with the divine and your witchcraft more amplified.

In the Gardnerian Book of Shadows (which contains a section entirely on consecrating ritual items) it says you must consecrated within a magick circle with a paten (aka. a shallow metal plate or dish) at the center of the circle and follow this with a consecration ritual. Below is an example ritual for you to follow.

You can consecrated each of your tools in turn by doing the following ritual:

  1. Place the tool on the paten
  2. Sprinkle it with salt and water
  3. Pass it through some incense
  4. follow this with the below declaration:

Aradia and Cernunnos, deign to bless and to consecrate this (fill in with the tool you are consecrating), that it may obtain necessary virtue through thee for all acts of love and beauty. Aradia and Cernunnos, bless this instrument prepared in thine honor.

Gardner, Gerald. The Gardnerian Book of Shadows

This is just an example, you can choose the best way for you to consecrate your tools by either finding a written declaration pre-made like the one I gave an example of or, you can write your own (which ever you prefer that feels true to they way you practice your craft).

Remember the”Things” do not make the Witch

As a Witch we are all individualistic and therefore we often operate in a very independent-minded way. We are all different. There should be no pressure felt, to conform or practice a certain way. Just be true to yourself, listen to your inner voice, your inner guide and follow. Only you know the right path for you. Use your gift of intuition to help you navigate and make the right choices. Amplify and manifest all that is good and true. Keep learning and developing in this life so that you maybe a true reflection of who you were supposed to be and fulfill your true life purpose on this earth.

The key ingredients to being an authentic Witch are:

Knowledge: continuous learning, keep a familiarity, awareness, and understanding of all things related to your craft such as skills, abilities, history and facts. Keep acquiring knowledge via many different ways using many sources, such as your own perception and reasoning, memory and first hand experience, testimony, exploration, education and of course continuous practice

Will: focus you true will in all that you do. In every passing moment, be aware of what your thoughts and feeling are to stay aligned on your life purpose making sure your actions operate in perfect harmony with nature.

Imagination: Imagination is your ability to form mental images, connections, analogies, and narratives of something that is not perceived through your senses. Imagination is a manifestation of your memory. It enables you to scrutinize and construct potential future scenarios/events that do not yet, but could exist. Use your imagination to create ideas and sensations in your mind so that they can manifest in your life. Use your imagination as a resource to bring about your set intentions. Your imagination is not perceived through your senses it is in your mind so keep your mind strong and active (meditation and visualization techniques can help you develop this extremely important ability).

Love: Love, the strongest and most powerful emotion of all. Everything should come from a place of love.

Faith: Have faith in yourself and your connection to nature and all that is divine.

CONCLUSION:

A Witch can combine all of what we have talked about in this article to create and make true magick happen. Being a true, authentic Witch comes from the heart. Ultimately, everything is your choice and you are the only one who can make things happen in your life to achieve your full potential. My suggestion is to keep on learning as much as you can and keep on developing in your own unique ways! Remember to practice often and use your tools often. Blessed be to all 🙂
